What we do
PPA Learning Center provides specialized education and coaching for individuals and families affected by primary progressive aphasia (PPA), primary progressive apraxia of speech (PPAOS), and related frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) syndromes. We support communication and quality of life through personalized, practical strategies grounded in clinical expertise. While our team includes licensed speech-language pathologists, our services are non-medical in nature and are not a substitute for speech-language therapy. Instead, we focus on empowering clients and care partners with tools, training, and insight to navigate everyday communication challenges with confidence, regardless of disease stage or severity.
Quick Bio
I am a researcher, clinician and advocate with a passion for supporting individuals with PPA & PPAOS and FTD, and their families. I aim to bridge gaps in care by promoting equity, dismantling linguistic hierarchies, and creating a compassionate, inclusive community for all languagers and languaging practices. Over the last seven years I have had the rare privilege of working closely with many individuals living with PPA & PPAOS and FTD, and their loved ones. I've been fortunate to receive advanced training in clinical practice and research focusing on these conditions and I am continuously overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to play some small part in this community. It is these human-to-human experiences, not the clinical or scientistic ones, that have come to profoundly shape my understanding of connection, existence and humanity. I aim to approach my communication coaching, scientific endeavors and community service work with this lens, in service of a future with better awareness, access and care for all individuals touched by these conditions.
